The Emsstrom Project The MV "Frithjof" was launched as a Fishery Protection Vessel in 1968 and after decommission in 1997 was handed over to her present owners. Renamed to MV "Emsstrom" the vessel serves as a training ship since early 1998. Fitted with the latest nautical and electronic equipment, the vessel provides a variety of training and upgrading courses for both german and foreign seafarers. Safety and medical courses as required by the STCW 95 together with computer courses are among the programs offered. Deck- and Engine- trainees are prepared for their careers as nautical or engineering officers. The Emsstrom Project is supported by a large number of german and foreign ship owners and is considered an ideal supplement to existing maritime training facilities in the region. |
